S. Beggs - 04/12/2009 Junk. The dial doesn't look like the picture either, but that doesn't really matter. Since there is no way to set the actual temp, I set it in the middle of the "germination zone". It was well over 85 degrees in the soil by my instant read thermometer put in right next to the probe from the thermostat, and it was still on, so I turned it down to the lowest setting in the germination zone, which the packaging says starts at 68 degrees, so I thought it would hardly be on in my 68 degree house. It still was keeping the soil at 83 or 84 degrees, so I turned it below the zone until it shut off. When I came home from work this morning, it had the heat mat back on, and it was again 83 degrees in the soil by the probe. I only wanted about 10 more degrees than room temp. I am using a super sprouter mat as well. I may as well just have the mat on with no thermostat. Complete waste of electricity, time, and money. |
