New from Sentinel the CHHC-4 Updating the incredibly popular CHHC-1
The next evolution in Sentinel CO2 / Environmental controls – the CHHC-4. At first look, the CHHC-4 is similar to the CHHC-1 – Identical button controls, layout and color coding make it easy for retailers and consumers to transition to my new product. But that is where the similarities end. The following is a list of improvements and design modifications that are incorporated not only in the CHHC-4, but in many new Sentinel variants that are just over the horizon:
Green LED displays – While the prior red displays were not bright enough to cause problems, consumer perception exists that green would be more plant friendly…so it shall be.
Weather-resistant controller housing – Main controller modules are sealed to prevent moisture and contaminants from entering the units.
Removable remote probe assembly – Probe is removable allowing consumers to place product in remote locations easier than before. Removable probe also allows end user to replace probe easily if damaged due to user neglect (drop in reservoir, foliar spray, step on it, cut the cord, sulfur damage etc) Remote probe assemblies will become a line item product with dist/whls/retail pricing and availability. Remote probe assemblies will easily ship in Fed Ex or UPS overnight envelopes ensuring minimal downtimes for end users.
More powerful CPU’s – Ensures more accurate readings and control – also allows for greater expansion of future software capabilities.
Dual beam CO2 sensor – Highest tech, most accurate sensor available to the hobby hydroponics industry.
Perhaps the most important change incorporated into the CHHC-4 and all upcoming new Sentinel products is the Rohs compliant construction. Rohs - which stands for Reduction of Hazardous Substances Act - is a European Consumer Safety law that forbids the inclusion of Lead, Mercury, Cadmium and Hexavalent Chromium in electrical products. It also limits amounts of two commonly incorporated flame retardants in plastics – PBB (Polybrominated Biphenols) and PBDE (Polybrominated Biphenol Ethers). In addition to the Rohs compliance, I will also be following the lead of IBM in disallowing Deca-DBE (Decabromodiphenyl ether) from inclusion in plastics as a flame retardant as well.
