It will hold water and nutrients without the concerns of dramatically lowering the pH of the medium. Use it to make your own soil. Add 5 quarts of water to one brick to yield approximately 1/3 cubic feet of pith fiber. It is itself slightly acidic and ranges in 5.2 to 6.8 pH.
