News Flash! Nuke em kills Root Aphids with Food Grade Ingredients!! Brilliant!! Click on More Info Button and go to the bottom of page for more info.

Flying Skull Plant Products has introduced Nuke em to the indoor outdoor gardening community. It is a multi-purpose insecticide and fungicide that kills the eggs, larvae, juvenile and adult insects that feeds on and ultimately kills plants. Its target is all species of Spider Mites, Root Aphids, Leaf Aphids, Thrips, Whitefly and other plant leaf  and soil insect parasites. Its unique formula also allows for outstanding control of the vast varieties of powdery mildew and mold found in the garden. Made entirely with food grade ingredients that you would find in a loaf of bread! Brilliant!!

Why would commercial growers use Nuke em?

  • Nuke em is ĎSkin Contact Friendlyí which is extremely important for the well being of crop maintenance personnel who are the backbone of crop protection.
  • Nuke em reduces the instances of personnel applying for State Worker Comp insurance from exposure to pesticides/fungicides. Reduces lost labor time to toxic exposure injury.
  • Nuke em greatly reduces the chances of litigation from maintenance personnel who apply the pest control that the owner/grower chooses to apply to the plants.
  • Re-entry into the greenhouse after application is the time it takes for Nuke em to dry.Nuke em replaces toxic chemicals, detergents, surfactants, petroleum, heavy metals and plant oils that are harmful to ground water, streams and biologically diverse soil.
  • Nuke em will not slow plant growth like oil and surfactant based pest management products do.
  • Nuke em will not lower the value of produce, it will not alter taste or bouquet.
  • Nuke may be used on the day of or after harvest to control pests.
  • Last but not least, Nuke em kills leaf dwelling pests and their eggs and larvae on contact.

Nuke em won't lower the value of your harvest like other insecticides/fungicides will! You've worked hard for your customers, don't lose them because your harvest didn't taste or smell the same. Think about it, did you have customers that purchased from you and then they stopped? Was it after a crop you treated with insecticides or fungicides? Did those insecticides/fungicides have Pyrethrins, plant oils, petroleum, detergents, surfactants or soaps in them? Don't feel alone, it's the story of thousands of our customers. Don't worry, Nuke em is here to keep your plant value high and your customers loyal!!

* Be wary of Insecticides made with oils, soaps and detergents. They will plug and cover the stomata and photo receptors, reducing photosynthesis and making it harder for the plant to recover from insect attack.

Non Toxic - Made with Food Grade Ingredients - Super Concentrated - Non Allergenic

Insects, mildew and mold canít become immune to Nuke emís effects. Its unique formula is comprised of 100% food grade ingredients that are commonly found in every day food products!

Other manufactures of insecticides, fungicides and plant washes use brain and body nerve poisons, chemical surfactants, soaps, petroleum or plant oil in their formulas that leave smelly, bad tasting and sticky residue on produce. Ultimately these ingredients will reduce the sales, desired flavor and smell of the gardenerís produce.

Anyone using Flying Skullís Nuke em will immediately see a complete control of plant parasites. At the same time they will notice a product that was easy to use, safe to spray, doesnít smell bad, and did not reduce the value of the produce just because there was a pest problem.

It is important to remember that Nuke em is a multi-purpose product so it replaces many expensive single target pesticides and fungicides. This makes it very affordable. It can be used on walls, floors and other gardening surfaces to kill insects and mold where they are hiding.

Nuke emís highly concentrated formula must be diluted before spraying onto plants or garden surfaces. Read and follow all label cautions and directions. Nuke em has been in the lab for over 10 years prior its release.

8 fl. oz. Concentrate makes up to 2 gallons of ready to use spray.
32 fl. oz. Concentrate makes up to 8 gallons of ready to use spray.
128 fl. oz. Concentrate makes up to 32 gallons of ready to use spray.

Not for Sale in Mississippi, New Mexico or Indiana.

I have a big infestation of broad mites, what are my options?

This is important to read!

Because Nuke em is a contact killer it is very important that every mite and their eggs come into contact with Nuke em. Even in the best conditions with careful applications it is very hard get complete coverage on the first spray.

Growers are reporting to us that they have had good luck with these MODIFIED applications. Remember to wash all other insecticides and fungicides off of leaves before applying Nuke em. Modified applications are always best done by spraying a few plants and observing before spraying them all.

95% of growers that have insect problems have soil/growing mediums that are over saturated with fertilizer causing the plant to become weak. The insects now have a home on a plant that can't put up a decent self defense. It is extremely important that the plant have this excess fertilizer washed from the growing media before an application of any brand of insecticide. Why? When the fertilizer in the growing media is higher than the osmotic threshold of the plants root system the plant becomes starved for water and mineral ions. If the plant canít get water from the roots it will take water in through the leaves. If the water sprayed on the leaves has an insecticide in it, the insecticide will be brought into the plant for use in photosynthesis and vascular relocation. You never want to feed a plant insecticide so you make sure the plant is fully hydrated before any application of insecticides or fungicides no matter what brand or type of insecticide it is.

It is always best when flushing a growing media that you check to make sure all of the soluble nutrients are out of it.  Growing medium should be flushed in such a fashion that a PPM count of no more than 100 PPM/TDS above the water supply PPM/TDS should be observed in water coming from the pot. Only a PPM/TDS/EC meter can tell you this.

These initial flushing steps below will make sure that the plants will hydrate properly.

These steps will help the plant recover quickly from the initial insect attack and stress from insecticide applications.

  1. Flush the plant site with Z7 treated water, usually twice the amount of water than what the container holds in media but more water is always better in this instance. This includes plants grown in hydroponics. Wait an hour. Time to make your first check. If you have a one gallon container pour 16 ounces of water across the top of the soil (1/8th the amount of water to the total amount of soil) and catch the runoff for testing. You want to see this PPM number no more than 100 PPM above what your virgin water PPM is. The use of Flying Skull Z7 in the water at the time of the flush and continued use afterward would of great benefit to the plants.
  2. If you don't have access to a hand held EC/PPM meter, flush your plants very well three times and wait one hour before applying Nuke em.
  3. Resume feeding your soil or soiless grown plants with a 5-600 PPM your plant food every watering. Feed the plants when the pots water weight is Ĺ of the saturated weight. Hydroponics keep PPM of the nutrient low (hydroponics 7-800PPM) during treatment and make sure they growing medium is rinsed totally clean. Continue this feeding program until the plants have recovered from all stress. Many growers find that feeding their plants with this low PPM/TDS fertilizer strength made the plants grow much better and continue to use this feeding program. Always use the Z7 as it is a key factor in healthy plant growth.
  4. Learn more about how plants feed and feeding information in Redmanís Rules found in the FAQ sections or in DOWNLOADS, downloaded as a PDF document.

This is the modified Nuke em application our customers said helped them with Broad Mite infestations.  Let us know how it worked for you.

MODIFIED APPLICATION 1.

DAY ONE: Apply one application at strong strength (lights OFF), wait until it dries and then spray another application at strong strength, wait for it to dry and then spray another application at strong strength. (Three applications on the same day allowing the plants to completely dry between applications).

DAY TWO : In light OFF, spray the plants down with Z7 treated water. Use only PART 1 of the two part formula, do not use part 2.  Use distilled, bottled drinking water or non chlorinated water to mix up spray. Dosed at 10 mL / 2 teaspoon per gallon. Use Part 1 only. Special note: Z7 is not an insecticide.

DAY THREE: Spray one strong strength application.

DAY SIX. Spray one strong strength application. Check for any signs of insects in the following days.

DAY SEVEN Option: In light OFF, spray the plants down with Z7 treated water.

Mixing Rates:

  • Normal Strength spray is 1 ounce Nuke em to 31 ounces of water.
  • Enhanced Strength is 1.5 ounces of Nuke em to 30.5 ounces of water.
  • Strong Strength is 2 ounces of Nuke em to 30 ounces of water.

General Leaf Application Directions:

  • Use the normal strength mix first, if needed use the next stronger strength.
  • For complete control, 3 applications may be needed; each application should be 3 days apart.
  • For cuttings and clones, use the normal strength.

PRO GROWERS NOTE: For infestations, 3 applications may be done in one 24 hour period. Some plants may desire to have the diluted Nuke em pH adjusted to 7 before for spraying. We do not have enough data to confirm a label change at this time. Should you wish to try adjusting the diluted Nuke em to pH 7, try it on one plant before applying to the whole crop.

Leaf insect and powdery mildew control:

  1. Water growing media, pots and containers to leach fertilizer from the root zone and ad tugor to the plant cell structure. No watering is required for field grown plants.
  2. Shake the bottle well before diluting into a spray or dip. 30 gallon drums should be mixed before pumping into smaller containers
  3. If growing indoors, turn main lighting OFF before spraying plants. Apply in low light then turn OFF all lighting until Nuke em dries. (Nuke em is a pesticide, not a leaf feed)
  4. If growing outdoors, spray on leaves on stems just before sundown or at the coolest part of day under heavy cloud cover.

Root Aphid Control for Soil Growers:

  1. Mix up enough Nuke em to saturate the growing medium.
  2. Use the normal strength of Nuke em which is 1 ounce Nuke em to 31 ounces of water. Adjust the pH of the Nuke em dilute to the target pH desired in your soil. Use stronger strength if test plant still shows signs of root aphids.
  3. Turn lights OFF and use low supplemental lighting to see. This is best done at the beginning of the light OFF cycle.
  4. Slowly pour Nuke em into the soil. There is a space or pocket just under the main stem that harbors many Root Aphids and is most likely the main habitat for the colony. Normally in an outdoor environment this pocket is protected from rain or runoff. This will be a hard area to treat unless you take the time to slowly and carefully pour around the stem where it meets the soil. Work out from there making sure the soil is totally drenched.
  5. Nuke em needs to be in contact with the Root Aphids for 1 hour. Longer contact time is advisable if your plant variety responds well to extended duration. Before the lights turn ON, rinse the growing media well.

Pro Growers Note: Tests are currently being done to determine if Nuke em needs to be washed from the soil at all, or what time is the very best contact time for the majority of plants. When we get this data will let you know. Major university studies will eventually tell us whole story. Should you decide to try the test of not washing Nuke em out of your soil on your own, only try it on one plant before your treat the whole. Let Flying Skull know what you found to be true.

Root Aphid Control for Hydroponic Growers:

  • Ebb and Flow, NFT,  Aero Tube
    • Mix up enough Nuke em to saturate all of the the growing medium and roots.
    • Use the strong strength of Nuke em which is 2 ounce Nuke em to 30 ounces of water if your growing medium is soaking wet. If the growing medium is dry or moist use the normal strength. Adjust the pH of the Nuke em dilute to the target pH of your nutrient solution.
    • Turn lights OFF and use low supplemental lighting to see. This is best done when at the beginning of the light OFF cycle.
    • Slowly pour Nuke em into the hydroponic growing media. There is a space or pocket just under the main stem that harbors many Root Aphids and is most likely the main habitat for the colony. Normally in an outdoor environment this pocket is protected from rain or runoff. This will be a hard area to treat unless you take the time to slowly and carefully pour around the stem where it meets the growing media. Work out from there making sure the growing media is totally drenched.
    • Nuke em needs to be in contact with the Root Aphids for at least 1 hour. Longer contact times may be  desirable if the plant variety can handle it. Always test one plant before testing the entire group. Before the lights turn ON, rinse Nuke em from the growing media, roots and hydro system before refilling the tank and turning Lights ON.

Pro Growers Note: Tests are currently being done to determine if Nuke em needs to be washed from the soil at all, or what time is the very best contact time for the majority of plants. When we get this data will will let you know. Major university studies will eventually tell us whole story. Should you decide to try the test of not washing Nuke em out of your soil on your own, only try it on one plant before your treat the whole. Let Flying Skull know what you found to be true.

  • Deep water culture systems may need a slightly different procedure for treatment.
    • Drain the system and let the plants drip free of nutrient.
    • Take a clean empty bucket and fill it with diluted Nuke em at standard strength and pH adjusted to your nutrient pH.
    • Dip the plant and growing media into it. Submerge long enough for all growing media and roots to be saturated.
    • Replace plant back into the hydro system for your hour wait time. Treatment should be done in Lights OFF cycle.
    • Rinse the growing, roots media and hydro system well with water before adding nutrient and turning ON lighting.

After the one hour minimum of contact in the root zone, the residual from the main Nuke em application (after being rinsed from the root zone) may be run through the hydroponic system to clear any threat posed to the plants from insects inside the pipes and tubes. Taking the plants out of the system while it is being flushed is advisable should larvae or adult Root Aphid be in the tubes, buckets or tanks. The entire system needs to be flushed before turning ON main lighting. This procedure will clear dead adult, juvenile and larvae from the hydroponic system.

Powdery Mildew: Some Powdery Mildew will take three applications of the Nuke em to fully kill it. We suggest treating all Powdery Mildew the same by making sure that three applications are made.

Hydroponic System Recommendation: Using Flying Skullís Z7 after the Nuke em treatment is advised. Add the Flying Skull Z7 Hydro System Cleanser to every tank of nutrients.
